Amidst the Dhauladhar A. Beautiful TOwn PALAMPUR (H.P) SANAM GUR

 PALAMPUR IS THE TEA CAPITAL of northwest india . it is set on  the rising slopes of kangra valley before they merge with the dhauladhar ranges .but tea is just another aspect which makes Palampur a special resort Abundance of water and proximity to the mountains have endowed it with  a mild climate . THIS sets it apart from other tourist centers as one can enjoy its delight at anything at any time of  the year  Situated in and about the middle of the kangra valley ,it is a convenient base to explore the surroundings .                                        THE show clad Dhauladhar ranges of the greater Himalayas from a magnificient backdrop of the hill resort of Palampur .The kangra valley of which Palampur is a major station, was the trigarat old . Situated at an altitude of 4000ft .Approx , it was one of the leading hill states and  was once a part of the kingdom of Jalandar in local parlence ,the word for lots of water is '' Pulum ''   this is what has given PALAMPUR its name and it is the cascading streams of melting  snow that  has given the valley so much of  character.                                           
Mountain stream and brook criss cross the otherwise lush green landscape , in this intricate mesh are placed the evergreen tea gardens and paddy fields .The town  came into being when  the tea-bush was introduced in the 19th century and Palampur became a focus of the planters .Kangra tea , with its center at Palampur has been internationally acclaimed since  then .Mother nature has further blessed the area with  remarable natural beuty with the snow-capped .Dhauladar ranges rising spectacurly (14700-17200 ft approx) just beyond PALAMPUR .The town itself has some interesting colonial architecture and the area around is dotted with historical temples Numerous ancient temples  like jawalamukhi , Brijeshwari , and Chamunda lie on the lower hills brelow               PALAMPUR
